What We Do
NAHEMI is the subject association for Film, Animation and Media Production in the UK and Ireland. As such we work to represent our members in Higher Education debate and fora both nationally and internationally.

We offer fantastic opportunities for students, including:
Eat Our Shorts – our annual short film festival screening at BFI Southbank. Every member institution can select up to 12 minutes of their best student work for screening.
Kodak Commercial competition - sponsored by Kodak, this competition asks for 3 minute responses to commercial briefs, shot on 16mm film. All entries are screened at an awards ceremony at Regent Street cinema.
NAHEMI National Student Film Awards (NSFA) institutions and/or individual graduates can submit final films for selection, with a range of craft awards commended to individual films.
The selected NSFA screening programme becomes the NAHEMI Selected Programme and is screened at various festivals which have included London Short Film Festival, Ffresh, Aesthetica, Watersprite, and Encounters.
A few minutes for the planet - short film competition addressing sustainability and produced using eco-friendly production protocols. In association with UK Green Film Network and with the support of BAFTA albert Education Partnership and the Green Film School Alliance (GFSA)
We offer supportive and interactive networking opportunities for staff too.
NAHEMI Focus Sessions – we offer funding towards organisational costs of practice/research events that contribute to the advancement of film and media higher education.
NAHEMI Talking Shop – our annual conference invites our members to share practice and research in a supportive and safe environment.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) - all members are welcome to attend the AGM which takes place in July.
Membership is through an annual institutional fee of £300 with no limit to the number of individual staff members who want to get involved with our work.
