NAHEMI Focus Sessions

Funding available now!
Focus Sessions are concise one or two day events that encourage meaningful discussion, reflection, and knowledge exchange.

[Rolling] Call for Proposals

Do you need support to put on an film-focused research or dissemination event at your institution?

NAHEMI can provide financial support of up to £1,000 (with potential additional funding up to £3,000, depending on the proposal) to assist with organisational costs.

Please note that travel and accommodation expenses are not covered and ordinarily conference fees shouldn’t be charged.

NAHEMI invites proposals from our member institutions to apply for funding to host a NAHEMI Focus Session, which can be held either in-person or online. We welcome submissions on topics that are relevant to our member institutions and contribute to the advancement of film and media education.

Proposals should be no more than 500 words and must include:

  • Topic: Focus area and intended audience

  • Host School: must be a member institution of NAHEMI in good standing.

  • Venue: Location (if applicable) and proposed programme outline

  • Contact: Primary contact for the event.

  • Budget: Please indicate if costs are estimated or confirmed

  • Proposed Date(s)

Submissions should be sent on a rolling basis to secretary@nahemi.org using the subject line "Focus Session Proposal”.

Our most recent NAHEMI Focus Session took place in May 2025. Hosted at Cardiff University, “AI in Film and Television: A symposium on production, pedagogies and curriculum design” was a huge success.
