This one-day, online, conference will investigate how we move forward in a post-pandemic world. The past year has impacted our role as film educators in a significant way and it is time to focus on the positive aspects of our experience. Lockdown was an unprecedented situation, during which we have reinvented methods of communication, redesigned our teaching strategies, and found new ways of providing guidance and support. In response, students have discovered creative ways of telling screen stories and engaging with the curriculum through the innovative use of technologies. Furthermore, during the time of restricted movement people have found a voice of protest, Black Lives Matter, Everyone is Welcome and Climate Change have all been visible in raising questions about who we are and the nature of our future. Going forward, how will these events change our curriculum, the teaching materials we use, the way we communicate, and the films our students produce? NAHEMI Talking Shop invites papers, reflections, presentations, or Pecha Kutcha, no longer than 15minutes, on or around the following topics:
What have we learned from the pandemic?
What new practices have emerged?
What new forms of work through the use of technology are there?
Have we found new audiences and new formats?
What creative solutions have we found?
How can we decolonise the curriculum?
Have new communities been formed?
Have online forms of communication been more inclusive, if so how?
Is blended learning here to stay?
Has climate change been upstaged by recent events?
What are the strategies for supporting students, challenged by a post COVID world?
