Eat Our Shorts 2026 Submissions open!

Submissions are open for Eat Our Shorts 2026 which takes place at BFI London Southbank on Friday 27 November 2026.

Eat Our Shorts is NAHEMI’s annual festival of student short films, showcasing work from our member institutions from across the UK and Ireland. The event is a celebration of emerging talent, bringing together students and staff from practice-based film, animation and media Higher Education courses.

Fiction, animation, non-fiction, and experimental genres are all welcome. Each member institution should submit a single film (or selection of films) totalling no more than 12 minutes* in running time, including credits.

Film submissions are invited from all our member institutions and should be submitted by a member of the teaching staff. Students may submit their work through FilmFreeway, but permission from the tutor is necessary.

All entries for 2026 should have been completed in the academic year 2025-26.

All entries must be accompanied by an email to chair@nahemi.org detailing the individual work that has been chosen by the tutor to represent their institution.

(*Members may also choose to submit one film that is longer than 12 minutes, which may be included at the discretion of the festival organisers, in place of their shorter film or programme of films.)

Please note: Eat Our Shorts is only open to NAHEMI member institutions.
