But for the first time we are introducing an audience award. We are exceptionally grateful to KODAK for sponsoring this award. One film, chosen by the audience vote alone, will win the new, highly prestigious Eat Our Shorts KODAK Audience Award.

The prize £500 KODAK stock

So don’t forget to fill in your voting forms. You can collect these before each programme screening from the staff on the doors and hand them in at the end of the programme when you leave. The winner will be announced at the closing party on the 18th February.

INDUSTRY SEMINAR
Breaking into Film & TV
WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 16.00-17.00 NFT1

Each year at EOS we address the changing future of cinema and television. This year the industry seminar focuses on careers.

In Breaking into Film and Television a distinguished panel of industry professionals will debate the hows, whys and what-not-to-dos when trying to forge a career in film and television.

Amidst our celebrations of the incredibly high standard of student films screened at EOS 7, it is important, highly appropriate, even vital, given the current financial climate, to consider the potential job markets for the soon to graduate or recently graduated filmmakers. Will they get jobs after graduating? What sort of jobs will be on offer? How will their experiences at college/university set them up for the realities of a commercial market place? Will they, as so many strive to, find a way to strike a balance between their creative aspirations and paying the rent?

The invited guests on the panel work in the three main areas of production covered in EOS: fiction, documentary and animation. They are also a mix of filmmakers (producers/directors), expert craft practitioners (DoP & Visual Effects Supervisor) and those involved in education and training (Skillset, HE lecturers). No one of them alone will have all the answers, but through debate and discussion we hope to unearth some best practice principles common to all areas that can help graduates break into the film and television industry.

The panel guests are:

Sylvie Bringas              Animation Producer/Director
Asif Kapadia                 Writer/Director
Ken McGaugh              Visual Effects Supervisor
Andrew Speller            Skillset Representative (and DoP)
Paul Watson                 Documentary Producer/Director
Elizabeth Wood            DocHouse Director (and Documentary Producer/Director)

DELEGATE CENTRE
For the first time at EOS those attending will be asked to register at the Delegate Centre upon arrival. This is the festival’s base for the two days and a great place to hang out and network with students, staff and professionals between screenings.

All the universities, colleges, sponsors and media partners involved with EOS7 will have a stand in the Delegate Centre for the duration of the festival.

This is a fantastic opportunity to speak to staff face to face and pick up information on the various courses and organisations.

Free refreshments will be available on Tuesday 17th between 9.00-9.45 when registration opens (before the main EOS7 Introduction in NFT1 at 9.45). We look forward to seeing you there.
